As general manager of Kronos for Greater China, Max Miao is responsible for defining the company’s long-term business strategy in the region, as well as continuing to oversee ongoing business development and operational activities.
Miao’s primary role is to interact regularly with Kronos customers and employees throughout the different regions of Greater China, including China Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. He is passionate about communication and spends time with Kronites and customers to understand the challenges they may face and actively support their growth and goals. When visiting employees, Miao will often share a café chat with them, listening to their ideas and providing insight into overall business strategy.
When Miao joined Kronos in 2011, he brought with him a proven track record of successfully managing the Asian regional operations of large multinational organizations and translating global strategies into success in local markets. He has held several senior management roles for major global organizations, including vice president of Compuware in Asia and president of QAD in Greater China.
Miao has dedicated his career to building a strong reputation in the region based on his industry expertise, in-depth acumen for customer service, and deep understanding of the market—and has received accolades for his accomplishments. His ability to create and lead strong management teams led to recognition from HRoot China in its 2018 Top 100 HR Services Awards, where Kronos China was named one of the top HR companies for its innovative strategies and market reputation. Miao was also been recognized in 2016 as one of TopHR’s 10 outstanding persons in the industry, and most recently as one of the 100 Most Influential People in 2018 by HRTech China.
With a keen personal interest in Eastern and Western management culture, and Miao has developed his own management style to combine both, blending Western performance-driven management practices with China’s more humanistic management approach. He has published articles on staff motivation, team building, and corporate strategy in several leading Chinese management publications, including HRoot and e-Works.
Miao earned an executive master’s degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as a master’s degree in engineering from Shanghai University.
